WELCOME!

Chapter I:

The Unlikely Beginning

My journey into the world of creative media didn’t start with a plan, but with a pure, unadulterated moment of freedom. It began in my school days, with the sheer, unfiltered thrill of piloting a tiny, camera-equipped toy drone. The world below, so familiar from the ground, became a new frontier from above. The feeling of seeing my neighborhood, my city, from an entirely new perspective was intoxicating. I wasn’t just flying a toy; I was commanding a new way of seeing. That is, until an unfortunate and dramatic encounter with a tree brought my aerial adventures to an abrupt end. The drone was grounded, but the spark it ignited refused to be extinguished. The simple act of capturing a new view, and the vivid memory of that ill-fated flight, led me to a new frontier: the vast, limitless world inside a computer.

Chapter II

The Digital Canvas

I began to teach myself, starting with photo editing and graphic design. With an old Pentium computer and an insatiable curiosity, I discovered Fiverr—a digital marketplace that became my very first studio. The initial projects were small, each one a lesson, each earning a testament to my progress. I felt a unique sense of pride as I channeled every bit of income back into my craft, upgrading my equipment piece by piece. The process was a slow, deliberate climb. But the real turning point, my first true leap of faith, wasn’t an equipment upgrade. It was the moment I purchased a subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud—a moment that felt less like a purchase and more like unlocking a new universe of possibilities. I moved beyond the static world of images and into the dynamic, flowing art of video editing. The process felt surprisingly natural, as if my hands and mind had been preparing for it all along.

Chapter III

Finding My Light

The next stage of my journey was an expansion, a move from the virtual to the tangible. With the help of my brother, I made my first major purchase: a camera setup centered around a Canon EOS M50 Mark II and a DJI Mavic Air 2 drone. This was just the beginning; my passion for the craft soon led me to expand my arsenal to a total of three cameras and two drones. I founded my own studio, Mandodari Studio, and began taking on projects, refining my skills and developing a professional identity. My work began to speak for itself, and opportunities started to multiply. The first came from respected Sri Lankan marketing agencies, and soon after, international companies in Canada and Australia sought out my services. I learned to be an editor, a designer, a collaborator—always adapting, always growing. But every journey has its detours. I ventured into animation, hoping to find my next calling, but I quickly discovered it was a relentless battlefield. The expectations were immense—to deliver the polish and complexity of “Marvel cinema quality” as a one-man army. It was a moment of realization. Not a failure, but a necessary turn in the road that led me to where I needed to be.

Chapter IV

The Art of Color

This pivot led me to a field where all my previous experiences converged: color grading. It was more than a technical skill; it was visual storytelling at its most profound. I learned that the subtle manipulation of color could evoke a feeling, shape a mood, and guide a narrative in a way that editing alone could not. It was a language I felt I was born to speak. I pursued certification from Blackmagic Design in DaVinci Resolve, solidifying my place as a professional colorist. From that point on, my focus sharpened. I embraced my role as a Post-Production Supervisor, Creative Director, and Colorist. Today, I work remotely with a diverse array of clients globally, helping brands, artists, and production companies bring their visions to life. My workflow is built around industry-standard tools like DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Creative Suite, but my real power lies in my ability to find the perfect cinematic look for every project. I am a firm believer that color is an art form, and I am committed to pushing its boundaries with every frame.

Chapter V

The Ever-Evolving Canvas

As a creator, I am endlessly fascinated by the future, particularly by the transformative power of AI. I see it not as a replacement, but as an ally—a new tool to streamline workflows, inspire new ideas, and unlock even greater creative potential. I’m not afraid of it; I’m excited by it. From intelligent generations to workflow automations, I am locked in, always seeking ways to make the creative process more fluid and impactful. My journey has been a constant evolution—from a toy drone pilot to a certified colorist—and I am always learning, always adapting, and always ready for the next chapter in my story.
